[Forum News] August 12, 2026 Seminar: "Issues in Applying Director Qualification Regulations for Financial Institutions: Balancing Regulatory Authority and Due Process"
In response to developments in the financial regulatory environment, and with attention to the legal safeguard mechanisms for director qualifications, our firm, together with Contemporary Law Magazine, is co-hosting a seminar on "Issues in Applying Director Qualification Regulations for Financial Institutions." Scholars and practitioners in the relevant field are invited to engage in discussion, with the aim of enriching the legal discourse on this topic and providing concrete academic references and recommendations for institutional/policy development.

Attorney Ocean Lu Invited by CTS New Media to Serve as a Guest Discussant on Health First
CTS New Media invited Attorney Ocean Lu of our firm to serve as a guest discussant on the Health First video program in the episode titled "Understanding Dementia Care, Asset Management, and Legal Challenges." Drawing on her professional expertise and practical experience, Attorney Lu discussed common legal issues most individuals with dementia and their families face. The program addressed the potential risks relating to property management after the onset of dementia, as well as the appropriate timing, legal requirements, and procedures for filing guardianship and assistance declarations. Attorney Lu also shared practical insights and observations based on her experience handling related cases. In response to Taiwan's aging population and the increasing number of individuals placed under guardianship, Attorney Lu further introduced the concept of Adult Guardianship by Agreement, explaining how individuals with full mental capacity may proactively arrange their future guardianship through a guardianship agreement. The discussion was highly engaging and well received, highlighting Attorney Lu's professional expertise and extensive practical experience in family law.

On May 28, 2026, Billy Sun, Partner of Pontis Law, was invited to speak at the 2026 Construction Contract Dispute Seminar, jointly organized by the Taiwan Construction Research Institute the Public Construction Committee of the Taiwan Bar Association, and the Department of Construction Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He served as the keynote speaker for the first session, titled "Construction Contract Dispute Resolution and Case Studies under the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Russia–Ukraine War."
The seminar focused on legal issues and contractual disputes arising from external factors affecting construction projects, including the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in the global geopolitical landscape. During the session, Mr. Sun shared practical experience and case studies on the resolution of construction contract disputes, and exchanged views with experts from government agencies, academia, and the construction industry on strategies and emerging developments in dispute resolution.
